Quito - photos 2

Quito:

- The Park Alameda is situated inbetween the "Old Town" and the "New Town" and offers various entertainments like boating and pedalos,
- View of the bromeliads area of the Botanical Garden situated in the centre of the La Carolina Park. The Orchids garden was superb with more than a thousand plants. We decided to visit the Garden because I like green plants and my Mum does too so I wanted to capture the most species as possible especially the ones she has got in pots. Lee showed me also how to use the Macro option on the camera so I spent my time taking close pictures of all the flowers!! I will create a post showing some of them later,
- The La Carolina Park situated North East of the city. The park was surrounded by big avenues and high business buildings,
- Quito is also famous to be at 35km from the equator line. Here in the picture, the backboard indicated latitude 0-0-0. However, that was not really correct. The village called "la Mitad del Mundo" or "the Middle of the World"and the monument seen on the next picture were built in the 1980s and since then it has been determined that the actual equator is some 200 meters north of the monument area. We tried to see the actual line but unfortunately the museum and area were close for the lunch period of 2hrs.
