Puerto Lopez - Christmas period
For Christmas we could not stay at Montanita -too many gringos and noise- so with the girls we decided to move to Puerto Lopez a small fishing village (7750 inhabitants), 40km north of Montanita.
- Our first steps in the village was in very dirty streets and that did not look too appealing but we found a hostel, Punta Piedrero, with sea view and slightly out of town and at a very good price. Here Junior and Maria were in charge of the hostel with their 2 adorable little girls, Keli and Eymy, without forgotting Lucie the dog with her 2 puppies, Esco and Luna and the cat Pancho. Please see the pictures in post "photos 2".
- First thing we did was to try the hammocks and the girls were enjoying the relaxing atmosphere, so much nicer than the crowdy Montanita,
- Christmas Eve was dedicated to the polish traditions with beetroot soup (not a bad as you could think!) and a nice meal cooked by Chef Paula in the small kitchen kindly left for us by Maria. We exchanged small presents to keep the tradition on-going. Around the table, from left, Dorotea, Paula, us and Ewelina. I was in charge of the washing and that was quite tricky as there was no sink and I was using buckets of water. Imagine having to wash the big sauce pan!!! (bottom picture),
- Unfortunately, for Christmas day, Ewelina was not feeling well (Paula, don't worry that was not your food!) so we just stayed around relaxing in the hammocks and playing with the girls, dogs & co...but still with our colds and coughs which made the time not as enjoyable as we wanted. Lee was pretty tired and enjoyed an afternoon kip with on his right the thermos full of English tea!!! Some habits will follow us everywhere!! We found also a restaurant proposing roast turkey, we were happy!
The girls left on Boxing Day and we were very sad because that was the last time we would see them as they had to leave the continent by mid/end of January. We are very happy to have met them in Paraguay/Bolivia and I am sure we will find time later to travel to Poland to visit their superb South East region. Hasta Pronto Chicas!!!
