Antigua Guatemala - photos 3

Antigua:

We went to climb the Pacaya Volcano. Nothing to difficult with well designed paths and a guide. The views at the top were absolutely amazing! No lava was present but still a superb volcano. From the Pacaya volcano, we had nice views of the 3 others volcanoes which are surrounding Antigua. After the sunset, we ran and slid down the slope, how fun was that!!! We had sand everywhere and all our faces was covered by a beige coat. The next day was less funny as our legs were very sore but a day of rest and gone!

- The Pacaya volcano with in front the horses which were available (with some money!) to bring you up to the top if you were tired. No I did not need one!
- A close view of the volcano. The darker areas represent cold lava which accumulate at the foot of the volcano. No lava could be seen on this side of the volcano,
- But some could be seen in the right side - the bright orange lines on the picture. Because of lots of groups of visitors, we did not approach too much the volcano,
- The 3 others volcanoes around Antigua with from left: Volcano de Fuego is famous for being almost constantly active at a low level. Smoke issues from its top daily, but larger eruptions are rare. Volcano Acatenango latest eruption was in 1972 and it is since inactive. Volcano de Agua is now inactive. View from the centre of Antigua,
- Lee in front of these volcanoes,
- 2 superb sunsets with the volcanoes as background. The cloud on the left volcano represent the fumes issued by the Volcano de Fuego.
