Parque National Tayrona - photos 1

National Park Tayrona
After a relaxing stay in Santa Marta, we decided to visit the National Park of Tayrona which is known to have some of South America's loveliest coastline. After 45 min in bus from Santa Marta, we reached the Park with our backpacks that we left at the reception of the "EcoLodge" hotel, a very expensive hotel close to a beach where nobody can swim! (strong currents). From here, we reached Arrecifes (where we were staying for the nights) after 1hr of walk in the mud as the rain had started the day before. During our 2days stay, the weather was rubbish with lots of wind and all our pictures are greyish! Not even my blue filter could make it look sunny!!!
- Arrecifes beach. Very strong riptide. 200 people have drowned here. Due to the wind, the beach was full of driftwood and coconuts,
- Arrecifes beach. That could have been a lovely coastline with more sun and less wind. But typical tropical landscape,
- The Playa "Arenita" was in the way to reach the first beach where we could swim,
- The Playa "la Piscina" was 30min from where we were staying. The name of this lagoon is coming from a reef in front of the coast which forms a natural swimming pool. It was safe here to swim but it was pretty cold so only Lee had a go,
- Further to "La Piscina", la playa "El Cabo". Also not very great but we had a swim and I quite lost my bikini because of the strength of the waves!!!
