Lima - photos 1

Lima, the capital of Peru with around 7.6million of inhabitants is situated on the edge of the Pacific Ocean:
- Government Palace, Plaza de Armas or the Main Place,
- the Basilica Cathedral situated Plaza de Armas. Its construction started in 1535 with the first stone placed by Francisco Pizaro and it has kept its colonial appearance even after various modifications through the time,
- Plaza San Martin situated in the heart of the historic center. The monument is dedicated to Don Jose San Martin who was with Simon Bolivar one of the major liberators of South America from Spain. The place was inaugurated in 1921 as part of the Centenary of the Independence of Peru,
- District of Rimac is one of the districts the most traditional of Lima and whose streets have influence from Sevilla (in Spain),
- The "Parque principal" in Barranco, district where we stayed during our visit of Lima. This district is close to the beach and to the district of Miraflores (modern with shoppings centers, place where tourists normally stay) and 35-45min from the town center (by minibus). Barranco was a quiet and peaceful area with a friendly ambiance but an inefficient " i.e rubbish" DHL office. We were waiting our Christmas parcel from Lee' mum, which was supposed to be delivered in 3days. Finally we stayed 11 days due to the fact that the parcel was stuck in customs but the Barranco DHL office did not inform us about this!!!
